Transactions, sales and mortgages: how to read UAE real estate statistics

Why a large figure for the total turnover does not always mean the same number of apartments sold.

What is included in the indicator

In the report, first find the definition of the operation. General statistics may include sales, mortgages, gifts and other registration activities. The number of actions and the number of objects also do not always coincide: one object can participate in different operations.

Conditional example

Let's imagine a report with 1,000 transactions: 600 sales, 300 mortgage registrations and 100 other activities. It is correct to talk about 600 sales, and not about a thousand new customers. This is a textbook example, not data from a specific emirate.

How to use

To evaluate sales activity, compare similar categories and periods. Separately look at the monetary volume and number of transactions. If the composition of the indicator is not disclosed, do not use it to infer the cost of an apartment or interest in a particular area.
