Silence in the apartment: how to conduct an inspection without special instruments

Multiple audio sources

Listen to the apartment with the windows open and closed, then turn on the household equipment. Pay attention to the road, ventilation, elevator area and public spaces. One short quiet viewing does not characterize the whole day.

Room location

On the plan, locate the bedrooms in relation to the shafts, corridors, neighboring apartments and technical rooms. For a person working at home, not only night noise is important. Check out where you can have a quiet conversation during normal business hours.

Self-check limits

Inspection helps identify noticeable noise sources, but is not a substitute for measurements and professional judgment. If silence is a requirement, arrange an inspection at another time and ask for details of the structures. You should not deduce the quality of sound insulation only from the age or class of the building.
