High or low floor: how to choose without a universal rule

Floor affects the view and daily journey home, but must be assessed in conjunction with the building's layout.

Path from street to apartment

In a high-rise building, the number of elevators, floor distribution, and waiting times during normal hours are important. Check the path from the parking lot with your purchases. A low floor may be easy to access, but proximity to the podium, entrance or public areas requires separate inspection.

Light, noise and privacy

Height does not guarantee silence: the sound depends on the location of the road, equipment and surrounding facades. Compare an apartment with open and closed windows. For lower floors, look at the line of sight from the street and adjacent terraces; for the upper ones - orientation and openness of space.

Personal scenario

A family with a stroller, a person with limited mobility, and a second home buyer may all need different qualities. Make two or three mandatory criteria and test them on site. It is more useful to choose a convenient combination of apartment and building than the maximum floor number.

What to check

  • Elevators during busy hours
  • Noise sources
  • Route from the parking lot
