Careem Bike won the First and Last Mile category at the 14th Dubai Award for Sustainable Transport. The results were announced on 15 October. Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority organises the award to recognise sustainable, safe and accessible mobility solutions.

The winning project's description highlights shared electric bicycles connecting metro stations, bus stops, tram stations and other destinations. Its infrastructure includes solar-powered docking stations. United Trans took second place in this category for Bus-on-Demand Dubai. These are awards for existing solutions; the announcement does not introduce new routes or stations.

For a home buyer, transport access includes the whole journey: leaving the building, reaching a stop, and continuing to work, school or leisure destinations. Bicycle sharing and transport on demand can complement that journey where services are available. Distance to a metro station is therefore more useful when considered alongside walking access and connections.

During an area visit, follow a typical daily route and consult current service maps. Crossings, access to docking stations and usage rules all contribute to convenience. The award offers a practical reason to compare areas through the short journeys residents actually make, rather than relying on a distance shown on a map.
