The United Arab Emirates is a federation of seven emirates: Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain. Its capital is Abu Dhabi. “The UAE” and “Dubai” therefore do not mean the same thing.
